PetiteKnit Knitting Patterns Fluffy Knit-in-the-round Sweaters Top-down Construction Two Yarns Held Together

Product Information

The Novice Sweater – Mohair Edition has a circular yoke and is worked from the top down with two strands of thin mohair/silk yarn held together throughout.

You will start by knitting the neck ribbing, then the yoke, which is shaped with a total of 4 rounds of increases that are evenly distributed along the length of the yoke. You will then continue with the body of the sweater and finally the sleeves. The sweater is worked in stocking stitch with edges in rib stitch.

Seven Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL
The sizes are designed to fit an approximate bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 cm

Finished Measurements
Bust circumference: 92 (96) 102 (108) 116 (126) 136 cm
Length: 52 (54) 56 (58) 59 (60) 61 cm measured mid back

Size guide: The Novice Sweater – Mohair Edition is designed to have approx. 6-12 cm of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 6cm-12cm larger in circumference than your widest upper body measurement.

Measure yourself before beginning your project, to determine which size will fit you the best. This means that if, for example, you measure 94cm around your bust (measure yourself around your bust, or the widest point of your torso, using a measuring tape), you should knit a size M which has a finished circumference of 102cm and which in the given example would give you 8cm of positive ease.

Please note that knitting with the correct gauge is essential to end up with a garment that has the measurements given in the pattern.

Gauge: 21 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10cm in stocking stitch on 4mm needles with 2 strands of silk mohair held together, after blocking.

Suggested needles: Circular needles: 3mm / 40 and 80cm, 4mm / 40, 60 and 80cm needles; Double-pointed needles: 3mm needles, unless using the Magic loop method on the sleeves.

Yarn:  approx. 175 (175-200) 200 (225) 225 (275) 325 grams of a silk mohair yarn based on 212 metres per 25 gram ball.  We suggest using Rowan Kidsilk Haze, Katia 50 Mohair Shades, or Shibui Silk Cloud

Note: Two strands of yarn are held together throughout the pattern. The given yardage amounts are the total yardage required. If you want long sleeves on your sweater, please add an extra 25 grams of yarn for each size.
