Product Information
‘KiYO’ comes from the special instruction used to create the large eyelets - ‘knit into yarn over’. The body and borders are knit seamlessly as one piece, creating a blanket which is perfectly sized for strollers and car seats.
The stitch pattern has the same look as Barbara Walker’s “Chinese Checkers” but has been completely reworked and simplified so that all work is done on the right side, leaving the wrong side as rest rows! Instructions are given for 7 different yarn weights and full tutorials are available for the Left Twist, Right Twist and KiYO stitches.
The pattern is given for the following yarn weights:
Light Fingering (790yd / 730m) - 31 sts, 48 rows on 2.75mm
Fingering (780yd / 720m) - 31 sts, 43 rows on 3.25mm
Sport (690yd / 630m) - 26 sts, 35 rows on 3.75mm
DK (580yd / 530m) - 23 sts, 33 rows on 4mm
Worsted (550yd / 510m) - 19.5 sts, 30 rows on 5mm
Bulky (490yd / 450m) - 18.8 sts, 25 rows on 6mm

“The name ‘KiYO’ comes from the instruction ‘Knit into Yarn Over’ which is used to create the large eyelets. Serendipitously it is also the Japanese word for ‘skillful’, ‘dexterous’, or ‘deft’ (器用 – kiyō) which is what we aspire to be with our knitting!”
