Knitting pattern for tiny hats and socks for premature babies using a fine 3ply weight wool yarn. We recommend a machine washable Merino wool from NZ for softness and to support local producers.
4 sizes of premmie baby based on weight in grams as sizes are so very small.
Knitted in a choice of five stitch patterns, these will be great stash busters as they use so little yarn. Hats are made in pieces on straight needles with a short centre back seam to sew. The socks are made with a set of double pointed needles (DPNs). We think these designs are suitable for most knitters.
Gauge: 34 sts and 42 rows over stocking stitch using 2.75mm needles.
Approx. total yardage: less than 25grams or one ball of 50g
Needles sizes: 2.25mm and 2.75mm straight needles and a set of 2.75mm DPNs for socks.
Also need: stitch markers, tapestry wool needle for sewing up.
