This knitting pattern is for a contemporary Fair Isle beanie with 2 contrasting colours of yarn using an interesting Herringbone stitch pattern. It is knitted in the round on your choice of either circular needles or double pointed needles (DPNs).
The Niven Beanie is styled for any gender in two colours of the Bellissimo 8 Ply 100% Extra fine Merino wool or other soft DK weight merino yarn.

Skill Level: Expert or determined intermediate, knit in the round, Fair Isle colourwork, Herringbone stitch pattern
Sized for Smaller Head (S) and Larger Head (L)
To fit Head: 56 (59) cm
Materials: Both sizes require a Main colour 2 balls and Contrast Colour 1 ball x 50g balls of Bellissimo 8 100% Extra-fine merino (125m per 50g ball)
Gauge: 34 stitches and 30 rows over 10cm square swatch of herringbone pattern using 5mm needles.
Recommended Needles: 4mm and 5mm 40cm circular needles or a set of both 4mm and 5mm dpns or as needed to make gauge
Also needed: stitch marker, wool needle (for sewing in ends)
