Millar Vest Hat and Booties 4ply Knitting Pattern

Millar is a simple modern vest for babies knitted in one piece featuring a cross over rib cable and the delightful textures of garter stitch. A companion ribbed beanie has two making options to knit flat on straight needles or in the round on double pointed needles (DPNs). Garter and ribbed booties with pompoms complete the look.

Construction of the vest is knitted flat in one piece then shoulders are sewn together using mattress stitch.

Knitted in Eternity 4ply fine Merino, a lovely local Merino Wool by Burnt Hill Yarn Co, the beautiful textures are revealed. 

Six sizes for ages: newborn-3 (3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18, 18-24) months

Materials for set:
Yarn: 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3) balls of Eternity 4ply Merino Wool (based on 195 metres per 50 gram ball) or approx. total of 400 (400, 400, 600, 600, 600) metres of equivalent 4ply wool yarn
Needles: 2.75mm and 3.25mm straight knitting needles and DPNs in same sizes.
Notions: Cable needle, stitch holder and 3 buttons

Gauge: 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch knitted on 3.25mm needles. Correct tension is Essential. Be sure to check your tension matches this pattern's stated gauge to ensure it will fit and you have the correct amount of yarn. If your swatch has less stitches to the 10cm, your tension is too loose so use smaller needles. If your swatch has more stitches to the 10cm, your tension is too firm so use larger needles.
