CocoKnits Patterns Cardigans & Jackets Two Yarns Held Together

Product Information

Madeleine by Julie Weisenberger of Cocoknits is a classic, French-inspired striped cardigan with gentle A-line shaping and a flattering & feminine slender sleeve.

This sweater is worked using the Cocoknits Method, a commonsense system for knitting seamless, tailored sweaters from the top down. The Cocoknits Method is explained in detail in Cocoknits Sweater Workshop by Julie Weisenberger.

All of the page numbers in this pattern refer to the pages in Cocoknits Sweater Workshop, where the techniques are explained in detail. Purchase Cocoknits Sweater Workshop here...

Finished Measurements: Sizes: Small (Medium, Large, 1X, 2X, 3X)

Finished Bust Circumference:  34.25 (37.75, 42.25, 45.75, 50.25, 53.75)” / 87 (96, 107, 116, 128, 137) cm, buttoned
Finished Length: 18.5 (19.25, 20.25, 21.5, 22, 22.25)” / 47 (49, 51, 55, 56, 57) cm

Gauge:  18 sts & 28 rows =10 cm square measured over stockinette stitch on largest needles, using Yarn A or B (2 strands of yarn held together)

This pattern uses one strand of lace weight yarn and one strand of fingering or sport weight yarn held double and knitted together for an equivalent of light DK weight yarn

Yarn NOTE: The striped version is worked using two strands of yarn held together. Yarn A is two strands of black held together, one strand in each yarn; Yarn B is two strands of ivory held together, one strand in each yarn. Therefore, you will need 4 separate yarns.

YARN REQUIREMENTS are just approximations. Total yarn usage will depend on the yarn you use (fiber content, ply, etc.), your personal gauge, and any modifications you may make.

345 (440, 520, 620, 695, 805) m fingering weight yarn in each of four yarns (two colors each in two yarns) or in each of two colors in dk weight yarn

-- OR --

695 (880, 1040, 1245, 1390, 1610) m sport - dk weight yarn if omitting stripes
If using a fingering weight held double for a solid cardigan, you will need this amount for each of two fingering weight yarns, which will knit at approximately sport weight when held double.

We suggest using Shibui Knits yarn - Cima and Twig, Silk Cloud.

Suggested Needle Sizes:
4.5mm (or size needed to obtain gauge) circular needle 100cm or longer (see page 19 for information on length) for Body and Sleeves
