Product Information
Baby Cakes 8ply knitting pattern from lisafdesign.
Cypress Vest and a Ribbed Beanie make a set that will become a lovely and cozy outfit for a baby. The use of the stripes and Fair Isle pattern adds visual interest to the design and allows for creativity in the use of colour combinations. Also a great smaller project to try out this technique for the first time.
The multi-coloured vest is knitted flat in pieces then sewn together using mattress stitch. Pick up stitches around the neck and armbands, attach the buttons and it's done! Like many of Lisa's patterns, the ribbed hat has two construction options to knit flat on straight needles or in the round on double pointed needles (DPNs).
Pattern contains both written instructions and chart for the Fair Isle.
Knitted in Silver Stars, Cinnabar Green, and Misty, all shades of Vespers 8ply, a lovely local Merino Wool by Burnt Hill Yarn Co. for softness, warmth and lots of modern style!

Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch knitted on 4mm needles. Correct tension is Essential. Be sure to check your tension matches this pattern's stated gauge to ensure it will fit and you have the correct amount of yarn. If your swatch has less stitches to the 10cm, your tension is too loose so use smaller needles. If your swatch has more stitches to the 10cm, your tension is too firm so use larger needles.
